WHY MISSIONS: WHY MUSLIMS?
1. Why Missions - Why Muslims?
Being a Mission Mobiliser for most of my life, this question became more and more a personal challenge or need to answer for myself. It is indeed important where to maximize our focus and involvement while I was rethinking the purpose and vision for our ministry.
2. Why Muslims?
Somebody once asked the following question to me: “Why Muslims? They are a small minority in our country. Why rather not use your ministry time to focus on the other bigger needs in our own country? The fact is that very few Muslims ever accepts the Good News ”.
Firstly I don’t agree that this statement is correct. It is a fact that many Muslims came to Christ lately (read more later on)
But while I was busy rethinking this question I first want to look to the Question: What is Missions?
3. What is Missions?
If one asks Why Missions?, one first has to rethink: What is Missions?
The best way to answer this is to rethink: What is our main Motivation for doing Missions?
The answers that I figure out for myself are shortly as follows:
1. Missions is NOT in the first place about the Great Commission (only to be obedient to Christ because He sent us – Mat 28:18-20).
2. It is also NOT about saving the lost souls that are on the way to hell.
3. Missions IS ALL ABOUT maximum honor and glory to God; praising God as our Creator, our King, our Heavenly Father.
4. Therefor we need to share the gospel to every person on this earth with this purpose: to invite them to join being His disciples, the real church, the heavenly choir of Revelation; those that will sing praises in heaven to Him that sits on the throne and to the Lamb (Rev 5:12-13).

4. Now continue with the question: Why Muslims?
4.1 THEIR NUMBERS:
With more than 1,8 Billion people in 2020, Islam is a very important religion and must be considered as such. Nearly one in every 4 people in the world today is Muslim.
It is expected to increase to nearly 30% in 2050. To put it in perspective, in 2050 half of all “unreached peoples” will be Muslims. Muslims just can’t be ignored in our Missions focus.
4.2. MANY MUSLIMS STILL DON’T KNOW THE TRUTH.
Although many Christians are
ignorant about Islam and are not interested to get involved, the fact is that
Islam is interested in us. With their Dawah-mission
strategies they are busy planning how to reach the whole world for Allah.
They use various methods including politics and the economy (just do some
research about the Halal trade).
Most Muslims are not free to hear
the Gospel and therefore don’t know the truth. One think about the prayer of
the Lord Jesus on the cross in Luke 23:34 “Father forgive them, for they do not
know what they are doing”.
Many Muslims have never heard
the Gospel of Salvation; they mostly only know the Traditional Quranic “Bad
News”; the need for Good Works to satisfy the wrath of Allah.
Muslims are mostly very “Religious”, actually most of them try their best to
save themselves by doing more ‘good’ to outweigh all their ‘bad’, but can never
be sure when it is enough.
Muslims can never sure of
eternal life; always in the hands of an Allah and a Quran that proclaim more
about hellfire than hope for sinners, even at their best efforts.
4.3. INCREASING
NUMBERS OF MUSLIMS TURN TO CHRIST TODAY.
Increasing numbers of Muslims
are dissatisfied with the religion of Islam and are in search for the truth.
Many Muslims turn to Christ today. The number of Ex-Muslim websites on the net
and Facebook grow day by day. A search on Google for “Ex-Muslim
testimony” received… About 4 540 000 results (in 0,52
seconds) ; YouTube Video results : 260 000 results (in 0,31 seconds) ;
Muslims like to brag that Islam is the fastest
growing Religion. Not True !

4.4. MOST IMPORTANT; FOR THE SAKE OF GOD'S HONOUR.

Islam put God's honour at stake. Islam stole that what is only belonging to God. His Almighty Power and Glory; Him as the Only One on the throne. Islam is not honouring the true God!
· God Himself took this very seriously: Probably no text in the Bible reveals the passion of God for his own glory more clearly and bluntly as Isaiah 48:9-11 where God says, For my name’s sake I defer my anger, for the sake of my praise I restrain it for you, that I may not cut you off. Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver; I have tried you in the furnace of affliction. For my own sake, for my own sake, I do it, for how should my name be profaned? My glory I will not give to another. (Read this so important article from Desiring God by the link underneath.)
· Peter repeated this in the New Testament when he says that it’s God’s call to all humanity based on His divine glory or doxa (2 Peter 1:3).
· Paul defended his ministry to Gentiles with the message of Christ by arguing that God's honour required it (Romans 9:22-23). God's honour and glory is revealed in Christ (Hebrews 1:1-3).
Of all the religions in the world today, Islam most strongly rejects the Bible message and the Only Truth of Jesus Christ as God by putting something else in His place.
This must be rectified at all cost by sharing the REAL TRUTH of the GOSPEL!
By Sharing the Love of God for all sinners; His Grace, also to Muslims!
5. CONCLUSION: Therefor Muslims can’t be ignored!
It is definitely God's will that Muslims also need to hear this Good News of God’s Love for all sinners.
Therefor Muslims should be high on the Missions Agenda of the Church!
For God sake; For His Glory!
